Susan Weresh Rites Thursday; Secretary to Iowa Governor

COLFAX - Funeral services for Mrs. Joe (Susan) Weresh, 77, of Phoenix, Ariz., a former longtime resident of Colfax, and secretary of Iowa Gov. Hershall Loveless, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax.

The Rev. Omer Woltering, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

Mrs. Weresh died Sunday at the Scottsdale, Ariz. Hospital.

Survivors are her husband and a sister, Mrs. Anna Marie Johnson of West Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

In addition to serving as secretary to Gov. Loveless, Mrs. Weresh was executive secretary of the Architects Association of Iowa and was a member of the state board of cosmetology.

She was a member of the Altar of Rosary Society of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member and past president of the Colfax's Women's Club.

Mrs. Weresh operated the Roosevelt Beauty School at the State Training School for Girls at Mitchellville and also operated the Colfax Beauty Shop.

The daughter of James F. and Mary Tann Graham, she was born Feb 27, 1900 near Oskaloosa.

She was married Aug. 6, 1923 at Colfax. ~ Newspaper unknown, but possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 22 Feb 1978.
