Harry I. Storey Dies Thursday; Rites Saturday

Harry I. Storey, 76, of 604 E. 3rd St. South, a resident of Newton for two years, died Thursday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines.

The Rev. William E. Sexton, pastor of the Newton Fist Presbyterian Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Mr. Storey will lie in state at the Westover Funeral Home after 2 p.m. today.

Survivors are his wife, Fern V. Storey of newton, a son, Jay R. Storey of Newton, a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Gene) Selfe of Houston, Tex., five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Kenneth Storey of Shabbona, Ill., and two sisters, Mrs. Allen Gilbert of Fort Meyers, Fla., and Mrs. Lane Clapsaddle of Shabbona, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister.

Mr. Storey, a legislative director of the Iowa Farm bureau, was a member of the Grace Methodist Church in Des Moines.

The son of John L. and Mary Kennedy Storey, he was born May 27, 1901 in Shabbona, Ill.

He was a graduate of Mount Morris College at Mount Morris, Ill., and received his master's degree from Iowa State University at Ames.

He resided in Des Moines from 1948 until moving to Mesa, Ariz., in 1971.

He was married to Fern V. Shively Dec 1, 1923. ~ Newspaper unknown, but possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 17 Feb 1978.
