Barbara Joan Lightfoot, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Red Bluff Ca. on September 28th, 2015 with her oldest son David by her side.

Barbara was born in Colfax, Iowa August 19, 1931. She spent her teen years in Bethesda Maryland, where her father worked for the Secretary of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. She returned to Newton, Iowa in 1954 and married Vernal Rodell Lightfoot.

Barbara received a teaching degree from Parsons College and taught elementary school for several years until the family moved to Compton, Ca in 1955 and later Ojai, Ca in 1967.

She worked at the Ventura County Library in Meiners Oaks helping middle school children with after school studies until she retired in 1974 and then as a volunteer until she moved to Red Bluff, Ca 2 years ago to be near grand and great grandchildren. Barbara also volunteered at Help of Ojai, was an accomplished writer, competitive scrabble player and avid reader.

She was preceded in death by the tragic losses of her husband "Foot", 2002, and sons Kenny, 1992 and Daniel, 1994.

Barbara has one surviving child, David, two sisters, Jane and Peg, Newton Iowa; 6 grandchildren: David, Donovan, Deny, Daniel, Dylan and Dustin; and 5 great grandchildren: Dominic, Danielle, Dazilyn, and twins Dalton and Kassidy, all from Red Bluff, Ca.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Barbara's life at the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 East Main Street, Ventura, on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 6:30 pm.
