Services Held for Former Area Man

Funeral services for Bruce O'Brien of Nora Springs, a former resident of Jasper County, were held recently at the Sheckler Funeral Home in Nora Springs.

A former resident of the Sully community, he died recently after suffering a heart attack.

Masonic rites were conducted by Lodge No. 294 of which he was a member.

Burial was in Memorial Park in Mason City.

Survivors are his wife, Bernice Hoffmaster O'Brien and twin sisters, Elva Emmert and Mrs. Ralph (Eva) Forker of Newton.

The son of William and Margaret Killduff O'Brien, he was born May 21, 1903 in Killduff.

Mr. O'Brien held degrees from Des Moines University and the University of Iowa at Iowa City and taught school in southern Iowa for 14 years before moving to Nora Springs.

He was the retired manager of the Home Oil and Gas Co. of Nora Springs. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly the Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Wed 8 Feb 1978.
