Ardyth, the daughter of Samuel and Blodwen (Lamb) Pollard, was a graduate of Colfax High School. She also attended Drake University, The University of Chicago, and DMACC. Ardyth was employed by the telephone company while in high school. Shortly after graduation, her family moved to Newton and Ardyth started her career with United Air Lines—a career that lasted 28 years. She was a flight attendant during that time, and was domiciled in Omaha, Denver, and Chicago. Her last two years with United, she was a receptionist at Headquarters in Chicago.

Ardyth was a member of a business sorority, a Flight Attendant’s Sorority, and for a short while, the White Shrine. Ardyth was devoted to ill and handicapped children. She was a volunteer and fund raiser for the Children’s Convalescent Home in Johnston. Later she volunteered and was a fund raiser for Easter Seals—Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines. She was a loyal Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Those left to honor Ardyth’s memory include her close friends, Jason and Deborah Paul and their children, Ryan, Emily, and Katie, all of Pleasant Hill; and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Bill Pollard.

Memorials to the Bill Pollard and Ardyth Pollard Colfax and Newton High Schools Scholarship Fund may be left at the funeral home. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa 23 Oct 2015.
