Harry Harper Dies Monday; Rites Thursday

MONROE - Harry Edwin Harper, 52, of Monroe, an independent trucker in the Monroe area for 30 years, died Monday at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Monroe.

The Rev. Jerry Wolcott, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Monroe Garden Chapel is handling arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, the former Fern Stepleton; two daughters, Marie Van Dyke of Indiana and Mrs. Ron (Cecilia) Sneller of Pella; five grandchildren; three brothers; seven sisters, including Mrs. Jim (Helen) Oldham of Monroe and Mrs. Ray (Margie) Snodgrass of Newton; and his mother, Mrs. Iva Foulkes of Reno, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The son of Glen Harry and Iva Mae WIggins Harper, he was born June 22, 1925 in Jasper County. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Feb 1978.
