Jimmie L. Miller, 73, of Newton died Friday, October 2, 2015, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 8, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory, followed by burial in the Veteran’s Section at Newton Union Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Iowa Public Television or the Jasper County Animal Rescue and left at the funeral home.

Jimmie, the son of Robert and Thelma Miller, was born in Webster City in 1942. He graduated from Webster City High School, Webster City Junior College, Iowa State University, and Drake University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, and an MBA. He served his country in the United States Army from 1967-1969. Jim retired from the Maytag Company in 2004, after 39 years, as Senior Engineer in the Manufacturing Planning and Services Department.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki of Newton; two children, Kendall (Melissa) Miller of Newton and Scott (Chan) Miller of Clive; five grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Marshall, and Kimberlee of Newton and Sophie of Clive; 1 great-grandson, Forest of Ankeny; the mother of his sons, Ann Miller of Waukee; one sister, Dianne Syberg of Barnhart, Missouri; and two nephews, Steven Syberg and Mark Syberg.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Sharon.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, the staff at the DaVita Dialysis Clinic in both West Des Moines and Newton, and Dr. Chandran for all the care and compassion during Jim’s illness. ~ The Wallace Family Funeral Home, Newton, Iowa
