Ione B. Grant, 98, was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Baxter, to Will and Anna (Garrison) Vancise. She died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at Valley View Village in Des Moines.

Ione married Jesse Sheehy Grant April 6, 1940. To this union four children were born. Jesse passed away in 1961.

Ione worked for SuperValu and Hy-Vee before retiring in 1981. She enjoyed gardening, canning and bowling.

She is survived by her daughter, Millie (John) Rhone of Kansas City, Mo.; sons, Jim (Linda) Grant of Des Moines, Gale (Sue) Grant of Altoona and Gary (Denise) Grant of Newton; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5 also at the funeral home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
