ERNEST OLDHAM DIES SUDDENLY
Earnest Joseph Oldham, the son of James and Sarah Oldham, was born at the old Tool homestead east of Monroe June 22, 1876 and was a resident of this community all his life. In young manhood he confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior and united with the M.E. church at Reasnor in 1901 and has always lived a consistent Christian life. Up to within a few hours of his death he seemed in perfect health, but the end came suddenly in the early morning hours of February 8, 1918. He was 41 years, 7 months and 16 days old. He leaves a loving wife, three daughters, father, mother, one brother and four sisters, besides a host of friends and loved ones. The funeral was held at the Monroe Methodist church Saturday afternoon, conducted by his pastor, Rev. F. A. Moore, assisted by Rev. Enoch Hill, of Monroe. Interment was in the Monroe Cemetery.
