JOHN TOOL--Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church here on Friday for John Tool, 34, who died Tuesday. The Rev. George Pennington will officiate with Crumpacker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at the Monroe cemetery. Since Mr. Tool was a veteran of WWII, Fred Slaydel post of the American Legion will do the honors in giving him a military funeral. Mrs. Tool had undergone surgery recently and he had been at home recuperating when complications set in. He was taken to Wilden hospital in Des Moines. He died of internal hemorrhage. Mr. Tool lived all his life in Jasper County. He was born east of Monroe on Sep 13, 1918, to Alvin and Myrtle Tool. On Nov 28, 1939 he was married to Ruth L. McKee. During WW II he served in the Navy from April, 1944 until Nov 1945. He was employed at the Maytag Co., for 9 years and during part of that time he and his family lived in Newton. They were living in Monroe at the time of his death. Mr. Tool is survived by his wife; 3 children, Phyllis, 12, Dennis, 11 and Dwight, 9; his mother, Mrs. Alvin Tool of Monroe; 3 brothers, Carrol and Lyle of Monroe; Vern of Newton and 4 sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Brand of Monroe, Mrs. Wilma McMasters of Newton, Geraldine of Monroe and Wanda of Tulsa, OK.
