Nicholas "Buster" Leydens, age 92 of Pella, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colfax, burial will follow at the Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Pella at 505 Union Street, Pella, Iowa 50219 or the Christian Opportunity Center (COC) at 1553 Broadway, Pella, Iowa 50219. Nick was born on September 19, 1923, near Otley, Iowa to Conrad (DeJong) Leydens. He played football and graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1942. He was a veteran of the US Army. He married the love of his life, Mary Sage on December 29, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Colfax, Iowa and he was employed by Maytag in Newton for 34 years, retiring in 1976. In 1979, he moved his family to Pella, Iowa so his son Nick could work in the workshop at the Christian Opportunity Center.

Those left to honor his memory include a son, John T. (Kelly) Leydens of West Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren, Leanne (Jay) Davis of Ankeny, Jason and Anthony Leydens of West Des Moines; three great grandchildren, Sydney and Brandon Davis and Bella Leydens; his brothers, Matt, John and Frank; and sisters, Ruth Husle and Nellie Riley along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary; a son, Nick; a step-daughter, Marilyn; two brothers, Richard and Clarence and a sister, Lillian.

Nick made a difference in the lives of many and will be greatly missed. He was straightforward and honest and a man of Integrity. He held traditional family values and was a good friend to everyone.
