Those left to honor Linda's memory are her daughter, Tracy Smith Dodd of Newton; granddaughter, Macee Smith-Leavens of Iowa City; and her brother, David (Sarah) Hall of Brooklyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Shari Lee Smith in 1983; and her significant other, Gary Hearl in 2014.

Linda was a graduate of BGM High School in 1965. She had also attended Marshalltown Community College

Linda had been the HR manager at K-Mart in Newton. She had also worked as a Black Jack dealer at the Meskwaki and Lakeside Casinos.

Linda was a member of the Lady Elks in Newton and of the 2nd Ave. Gang. She loved her family and pets. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening and crafts.
