WEST DES MOINES – Ron Bailey, 59, of West Des Moines, formerly of Newton, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Crestwood Baptist Church in Des Moines. Burial will be at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines. Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines is handling arrangements.
Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Westover Funeral Home, 633 Hickman Road in Des Moines, where the family will be available. Memorials to Crosspointe Church, 1370 NW 114th St., Suite C., Clive 50325 may be left at the funeral home.
The son of Arliss Boothroy, he was born March 10, 1944, in Newton. He lived most of his life in Des Moines. He served in the United States Army and worked for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of Crosspointe Church and enjoyed history, reading, James Bond movies and was a Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife; a step-son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Chrissy Jensen of Des Moines; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Bruce Nielson of Peoria, Ill., and Jennifer and Terence Petoske of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren; his mother, Arliss Boothroy of Newton; step-mother, Erma Bailey of Newton; and a cousin, Linda Gullett of Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thurs 16 Oct 2003.
