Vincent William Benac
Vincent William Benac, 78, of 900 E. 15th St. S. died of complications of a stroke Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Martin Hoesch of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home where the family will be available. Memorials will be accepted in his name to the Grace Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Jasper County.
The son of Anton and Lena (Golic) Benac, he was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Rathbun. He attended Rathbun schools. On March 19, 1949, he married Leola C. Kingery in Newton. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He worked for the Maytag Company, Newton Plate Glass in Newton for 20 years and Mobile Glass in Des Moines. He retired Sept. 20, 1990. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Linda Gail Benac of Georgia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Chuck Braaksma of Kellogg and Carolyn and Don Little and Teresa and Les Morgan, all of Newton; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marion of Newton, Frank of Oregon and John of Muscatine; and several nieces and nephews.
