ANNA FERNEAU

Anna Marie Ferneau, 85, of rural Malcom died Saturday, June 15, at her home.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Sheridan United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Melinda Cree officiating. Eulogist was Clint Bryan. Music was provided by organist Barbara Graham and vocalists Sammie Schmidt and Marlene Gritsch.

Pallbearers were Marty Anderson, Clint Bryan, Matt Ferneau, Gary Latcham, Tom Anderson, Kirk Ferneau, Dan Jensen and Delbert Milton. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Marshalltown, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of David William and Minerva Catherine Carter Letch, she was born Aug. 23, 1905, in Putnam County, Mo. She was raised on a farm near Hartford, Mo., and attended rural school, later attending high school in Unionville, Mo.

She was married to Glen Thomas Ferneau Jan. 6, 1926, in Toledo. The couple later farmed in Tama County, moving to a farm in Chester Township, Poweshiek County, in 1935. They purchased their Malcom Township farm in 1937.

Mrs. Ferneau was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church and the Women's Fellowship of the church. She was a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Poweshiek County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are two sons, Curtis D. of rural Grinnell and David L. of rural Malcom; four daughters, Naomi Anderson of rural Kellogg, Glenda Beaver of Camrose, Alberta, Canada, Sharon Wasson of Bowling Green, Ky., and Beverly Bryan of rural Newton; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandson; four brothers, Glen, Don, Robert and Earl Letch; and one sister, Alberta Nebendahl.
