Jacob S. Gulling
May 10, 1984 - June 29, 2015 Resided in Des Moines, IA

All that we know now is that we've lost a son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandchild and friend. We have no words for our sorrow. No understanding. We are blank.

Funeral services for Jacob Scott Gulling, 31, of Des Moines, Iowa will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 3, 2015 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held 4-7 p.m., Thursday, July 2 at Dunn's Funeral Home, 2121 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, Colfax, Iowa.

Jacob was born on May 10, 1984, in Des Moines, Iowa to Bob Gulling, Jr. and Tammie (Swihart) Gulling. Jacob grew up in Colfax, Iowa, and attended Colfax Schools. Upon graduation, he attended DMACC. He worked for John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa for the past 10 years. Jacob passed away on June 29, 2015 in Des Moines.

Jacob is survived by his mother, Tammie Lines (Gary) of West Des Moines, father Bob Gulling, Jr of Baxter, brother, Travis Gulling of Colfax, sister, Kennedy Gulling of Baxter, and grandparents Bob and Violet Gulling of Colfax. In addition to aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins, Uncle Jake held a special place in the heart of his niece, Madison Gulling, as well as in the hearts of his friend Katie Brandt of Newton and his bengal cat, Bangle.

Jacob loved to travel and some of his favorite destinations included Paris, the beaches of Normandy, Honolulu, Captiva Island, Berlin and Krakow. He had just returned from Pagosa Springs, CO and was sharing his tales of Jeep trails, shoot offs and mudding. Jacob also loved the farm and spent many weekends with Craig and Brenda Van Ryswyk and their children at their farm in Baxter.

Jacob was surrounded by friends that have expressed heartfelt condolences that will help all of us heal. Heaven gained an amazing man. Jacob, until we meet again. We love and miss you.

In lieu of flowers, please commit frequent random acts of kindness. Memorials may be directed to St Johns Lutheran Church. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.ilescares.com. ~ The Iles Funeral Home, Des Moines, Iowa
