Brian Kenneth Daugherty, 39, of Rt. 3, Box 283, Newton, a resident of Newton since 1960, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 20, at the Skiff Medical Center following a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 8 a.m. Friday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara; two sons, Kenneth and Jeff, both at home; a daughter, Terri at home; a sister, Lynn Ann Thorson of Oakland Acres; his parents, Kenneth and Marian Daugherty of Newton; and his grandmother, Garnet Mildred Cope of Newton.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Wayne, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Reynoldson, and his paternal grandfather, William Oliver Daugherty.

Mr. Daugherty, a member of the First United Methodist Church, Izaak Walton League and Ducks Unlimited, was a lieutenant correctional supervisor II at the Correctional Release Center.

The son of Kenneth and Marian Reynoldson Daugherty, he was born April 16, 1951 in Ames and was a 1969 graduate of Newton Community High School and Indian Hills Community College in Centerville and attended Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville, Mo.

He was married to Barbara E. Pontzius May 20, 1972 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thurs 21 Feb 1991.
