Marion C. Goodwin

Marion C. Goodwin, 78, of 1601 1st. St. N., a resident of Newton since 1952, died Friday evening, Jan. 25, at Skiff Medical Center following a heart attack.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today.

Memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Lucille; two sons, James “Mike” and Steven D., both of Newton; two grand daughters; and three sisters, Frances (Mrs. Byron) Oswald of Sedalia, Mo., Agnes Boysel of Sedalia, Mo., and Lois Garst of Columbia, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marvin and Kenneth.

Mr. Goodwin, who had been a serviceman for several heating and plumbing firms, was employed by Peoples Natural Gas Co. prior to retiring in 1973.

The son of Christof and Tula Cameron Goodwin, he was born Jan. 17, 1913 in Warrensburg, Mo., and was a 1931 graduate of Warrensburg High School.

He was married to Lucille Hurt March 7, 1912 in Chillicothe, Mo. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 28 Jan 1991.
