Ronald Carroll

COLFAX – Ronald Carroll, 79, a lifelong resident of Colfax and former member of the Colfax City council, died Sunday, Dec. 30, at the Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. John Mc Kinstry, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, will conduct services. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Maxine; a son, Ronald II of Newton; a daughter, Donna Rae (Mrs. Jerry) Jones of Billings, Mont.; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Leona Barackman of Harrison, Ark., and Margaret Wilson of Colfax.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Mr. Carroll was a 49 year member of the Colfax Volunteer Fire Department.

The son of Leo and Maude Jackson Carroll, he was born March 2, 1911 in Colfax.

He was married to Maxine Thomas Aug. 30, 1940 in Colfax.

Mr. Carroll operated the Shell Garage in Colfax for 13 years and was an employee of the John Deere Works at Ankeny for 28 years prior to his retirement. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 31 Dec 1990.
