PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Carl Edgar "Ed" Vanderhart, 88, a longtime resident of the Monroe, Prairie City and Vandalia communities, were held Monday, March 25, at the Prairie City First Reformed Church.

The Rev. Joel Brummel, pastor of the Prairie City First Reformed Church, conducted services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Mr. Vanderhart died Friday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Survivors are two sons, Robert L. of Longmont, Colo., and Howard of Des Moines; a daughter, Kathryn (Mrs. Herman) Van Zee of Prairie City; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister, Clara Varner of Manford, Okla.

Mrs. Vanderhart, a member of the Prairie City First Reformed Church, was a longtime farmer.

The son of Gerrit and Anna Van Der Zyl Vanderhart, he was born Nov. 15, 1902 in Marion County.

He was married to Jeanette Vos Feb. 18, 1925 in Des Moines. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 26 Mar 1991.
