William “Gale” Rippey, 94, of Baxter died of cancer Saturday at Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton, with burial at union Chapel Crematory in Ira.

Mr. Rippey was born near Ira and lived in the Baxter and Ira areas all his life. He was a retired farmer and member of Ira United Church.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; a son, Russell Rippey of Mingo; two daughters, Margaret Page of Urbandale and Zella Rogers of Lodi, Calif.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 7:30 p.m. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 11 July 1997.
