Vivian Birkenholz

Vivian Birkenholz, a former resident of the Jasper County area, passed away December 22 at the Albuquerque Manor in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 85.

She was born on March 9, 1911 in Gillespie, Illinois to Thomas and Eva Nelson Price. The family moved to Colfax in 1912, where she attended grade school and high school.

She was united in marriage to Harold Birkenholz of Prairie City on December 11, 1932. They resided in Monroe, Prairie City and Newton until 1947 at which time they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, William and Jean Otto of Cedar Crest, New Mexico; a daughter, and son-in-law, Jerry and Donna Schroedl of Reno, Nevada; four brothers, Raymond Price of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Robert Price of Bussey, Norman Price of Newton, and Thomas Price; five sisters, Lorene Jiminez and Doris McKeever of Newton, Harlyne Patterson of Laurel, Virginia Janssens of Le Claire, and Beverly Cullings of Exira; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Dalton of Kellogg, and Edith Jennings of Prairie City; seven grandchildren and seventeen great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; a daughter, Karen Glover on December 26, 1995; a grandson, two brothers and two sisters.

Memorial services were held at Olathe, Colorado and Reno, Nevada. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Thurs 9 Jan 1997.
