BAXTER, Iowa - H. Blanche Koeper, 93, of Colonial Manor Care Center in Baxter, formerly of Rhodes, died Thursday, Feb. 6, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Following cremation, no services are planned.

Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Koeper was born Dec. 2, 1903, in Collins, the daughter of W. Albert and Elsie Stratton Clapper.

She attended Independence Township School No. 3 and graduated from Baxter High School in 1922. She attended State University of Iowa where she majored in mathematics and minored in political science.

She married David. B. Koeper Oct. 1, 1924, in Newton.

She was a long time general livestock farmer in the rural Rhodes and Baxter areas. She was also a homemaker and was involved in county and community activities.

She was a 50-year member of the Farm Bureau, the Amethyst Chapter of the order of the Easter Star, the Newton White Shrine and Jasper County Historical Society.

Mrs. Koeper is survived by a son, Marvin, of Rhodes; a brother, Wilbert A. Clapper of Baxter; two nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died in 1989; a brother, Wayne Clapper; and a sister in infancy. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Feb 1997.
