Gary D. Magg, age 60 of Colfax, passed away on July 7, 2015, at Bright Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at The Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.

Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bright Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines or the Colfax Quarry Campground project.

The son of Leo Duane and Phyllis Kathleen (Davenport) Magg, Gary was born on January 5, 1955, in Des Moines. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1973.

On September 17, 1976, he was united in marriage to Marilee Schmidt in Newton. Gary served on the Colfax Fire Department for many years and was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed camping, raising livestock and going to Livestock auctions. He also enjoyed helping with the family catering business and the family restaurant, Goldie's in Prairie City and spending time socializing with friends and family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marilee; two sons, Brad Magg of Colfax and his partner, Nate Haggard and Brent Magg and his wife MaKayla of Colfax; four sisters, Linda (Paul) Walter of Colfax, Karen Stoaks of Colfax, Sandra Brawner of Newton, and Shirley (Dave) Engel of West Des Moines and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Gary in death were his parents and an infant sister, Judy. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 7 Jul 2015.
