Alice A. Hummel, 93, of Ankeny died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at Urbandale Health Care Center in Urbandale.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church, with burial following at Silent City Cemetery. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The daughter of Charles and Amy (Ferguson) McGriff, Alice was born on February, 12, 1920, in Monroe. She graduated from Monroe High School. She was united in marriage to Bernard Hummel. Alice was a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church and she and Bernard were also charter members of the Ankeny Presbyterian Church in the 1960's.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Patty Maas of Clarkston, Michigan, Peggy Emmack of Ankeny, Michael (Dee) Hummel of Urbandale, and Timothy (Jane)Hummel of Pleasant Hill; seven grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Bernard in 1998, two sisters, Clarice Hoagland and Dorothy Patrick and a brother, Patrick McGriff.
