Kathy Fricke, 62, of Collins died Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Christian Church in Maxwell with pastor Tom Lee officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Kathy was born to Harold and Annette (Taffarella) McQuiston on Jan. 18, 1951, in Polk County. She attended and graduated from Collins High School in 1969. After high school she attended beautician school. On Dec. 12, 1970, Kathy married Dale Fricke at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in State Center. They resided and raised their family in Collins. Kathy had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them, most especially her grandkids. She also enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, canning, bingo, Facebook and playing games.
Those left to cherish Kathy’s loving memories are her husband of 42 years Dale; her sons, Todd (Lori) Fricke, Marcus (Cheryl) Fricke and Eric Fricke; five grandchildren, Brett (Sarah) Fricke, Ashley Fricke, Jacob Fricke, Carter Fricke and Avery Fricke; sisters, Mary Loy (Mark) Swanson, Vicky Miller and Phyllis (Jim) Backoff; brothers, Rick (Lori) McQuiston and Randy (Jan Hansen) McQuiston; sisters-in-law Shirley (Dave) Norton and Kathy (Ken) Potter; brother-in-law Fred (Hazel) Fricke; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law Pete Miller.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Kathy Fricke Memorial Fund.
Fredregill Family Funeral Home in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of Kathy and her family.
