Robert L. DeBord, 76 of Afton, formerly of Creston, died Sat., Nov. 26, 2005 at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Robert Lynn DeBord, son of Amanda (Tank) and Charles G. DeBord, was born Nov. 12, 1929 in Harlan, Iowa. He graduated from Creston High School in 1946. He lived and worked in the Creston area as a truck driver, first for 16 years with Burlington Truck Lines, and then for 15 years with Liquid Carbonic. In 1997, he moved to Afton. R.L. was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Lodge #1398 of Creston. He was formerly a member of the Local Teamsters Union.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheryl (husband Cary) Phillipe of Creston and Janet Adams of Chandler, Ariz.; and four sons, Charles DeBord (special friend Karie Walters) and Robert E. DeBord, both of Creston, Corey (wife Truda) DeBord of Des Moines, and Corby (wife Carie) DeBord of Prairie City; eight grandchildren, Chad and Casey Willets, Andrea Adams, Abbey, Logan and Gavin DeBord, and Ryley and Rece Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Olivia Willets.

R.L. was preceded in death by his parents, four grandsons, Brent Adams, Joshua & Jeremy Willets and Austin DeBord, one brother, Dale DeBord, and two sisters, Opal Truman and Darlene Lotterer.
