BAXTER - Maxine Owens Zachary, 74, of Baxter died Thursday, Feb. 14, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Baxter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.

The Rev. Darrell Bailey, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Mc Keever Cemetery, north of Colfax.

Memorials to the Heart Fund will be accepted.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Survivors are a son, Loren W. of Ames; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and four brothers, Harold Owens of Ashville, Pa., Roger Owens and Robert Owens, both of Newton, and Ralph Owens of Mingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Loren G. "Jay."

She was a member of the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ.

The daughter of Robert and Creta Emery Owens, she was born Oct. 21, 1916 in Valeria.

She was raised and educated in Valeria and Elkhart.

After her marriage to Loren G. Zachary, April 19, 1934 in Newton, they farmed in the Ira, Colfax and Mingo areas. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 15 Feb 1991.
