Minnie Florence Davis

Funeral services for Minnie Florence Clay Davis, 83, of 807 N. 2nd Ave. W., a resident of Newton since 1975, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Rodger Henthorne of the Grinnell Church of Christ will conduct services. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lipp Cemetery at Sidney, Mo.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. today and family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name will be accepted.

Mrs. Davis died Monday at the Skiff Medical Center.

Survivors are a son, Roscoe Eugene Lawson of Newton; a daughter, Nora Lorene (Mrs. John) Williamson of Reasnor; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, James Cleo Clay of Unionville, Mo., and Don Edward Clay of Kirksville, Mo.; and three sisters, Edna May Simmerman of Kirksville, Mo., Iva Leona (Mrs. Hugh) Poston of Unionville, Mo., and Leatha Clay of Worthington, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Herby Ray Lawson and Ralph Davis, a brother, Noe Clay, a sister, Lucy Rice, and a step-son, Cecil Lawson March 1, 1989.

Mrs. Davis was a member of the Newton Church of Christ and attended the Senior Citizens Center in Novinger, Mo.

The daughter of Samuel Sampson and Ann Clark Clay, she was born April 29, 1907 in Grundy County, Mo.

She was married to Herby Ray Lawson in 1928 in Kirksville, Mo., and to Ralph Davis in September 1962, in Kirksville, Mo.

She resided in Missouri before moving to Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Tues 12 Feb 1991.
