Lucille G. Hollister

Funeral services for Lucille G. Thomas Hollister, 89, of Nelson Manor Nursing home, a resident of Newton since 1938, were held this morning, April 15, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the First Christian Church, conducted services. Burial was in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Willowbrook or the First Christian Church will be accepted.

She died Thursday evening at Nelson Manor of heart failure.

Survivors are a son, Charles Griffin of Newton; two step-sons, Paul Hollister of Des Moines and Forrest Hollister of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; two step-daughters, Marguerite (Mrs. Ward) Maitre of Hollywood, Md., and Marvis (Mrs. Kenny) Lowe of Indianapolis, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, John Griffin, a son, Patrick Griffin, second husband, Frank Hollister, May 9, 1984 and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Hollister, a member of the First Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge and Pythian Sisters, had been employed by the Vernon Co., for 29 years.

The daughter of Charles and Clara Shirley Thomas, she was born June 2, 1901 at Swan.

She was married to Frank Newton Hollister in 1938 at Bethany, Mo. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Mon 15 Apr 1991.
