Former Resident

Here is information about the death of a former central Iowa resident who moved from the area more than 20 years ago:

Buren C. Robbins, 91, of Carbondale, Ill., died of a blood disorder July 1 at Memorial Hospital there.

Services were held Monday at the First Christian Church in Carbondale. Mr. Robbins was born in Vinton and grew up in Colfax. He began teaching at Belle Plaine and later worked for WHO Radio in Des Moines as an announcer as well as the Stoner-McRay Advertising Agency before continuing his teaching career at Southern Illinois University. Arrangements were handled by Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale.
