Louis John Braaksma

LNNVILLE - Louis John Braaksma, 57, of Lynnville, a former resident of Newton and Colfax, died Friday, April 26, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. Visitation with the family will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors are three sons, Charles of Newton, John of Wichita, Kan., and Louis Jr. of Arkansas; two daughters, Carla Champlin of Lynnville and Fawn Ann Braaksma of Knoxville; and several step-children.

Also surviving are five grandchildren; four brothers, Robert of Lynnville, Gysbert of Knoxville, Carrol of Wichita, Kan., and Larry of Newton; three sisters, Gertrude Hites of Sully, Frances Enyart of Griffin, Ga., and Leona Neilson of Chariton; his mother, Carrie Braaksma of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Wayne, and a sister, Viola, in infancy.

A self-employed machinist, he was borth July 6, 1933 in Lynnville, the son of John and Carrie Van Wyk Braaksma.

He was a resident of Jasper County most of his life. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa mon 29 Apr 1991.
