Helen Klopping Former Resident. Dies, Rites Friday

Mrs. William E. (Helen) Klopping, 69, of rural Dysart, a former resident of Jasper County, died on Wednesday morning following surgery at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Free Methodist Church in Vinton.

The Rev. Bill Long, pastor of the Vinton Free Methodist Church will conduct services.

Gravesite rites will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Center Friends Cemetery northeast of Newton. The casket will be open at the cemetery.

Overton Funeral Home in Dysart is handling arrangements.

Survivors are four sons, Howard and Richard both of rural Garrison, Loren of Columbia, S.C.; and Dean of Texline, Tex.; four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Rhodabelle) Rothfuss of Topeka, Kan.; Mrs. Donald (Beth) Hutton; Ruth Ellen Klopping and Carmen Klopping, all of Cedar Rapids, two step-daughters, Mrs. Evan (Mae) Baker of Perry, and Mrs. Wesley (Wanda) Saak of Baxter; 18 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Enoch Rexroat; and two sisters; Mrs. L. M. (Sara) Sparks and Mrs. Robert (Alice) Eaton, all of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oct 29. 1977, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

The daughter of Kemper and Rachel Benjamin Rexroat, she was born Jan 28, 1909 in Jasper County; was educated in rural schools and was a 1927 graduate of Newton Community High School.

She was married Mar. 7, 1929.

Mrs. Klopping moved to Benton County in 1948.
