William D. Wilding

William D. Wilding, 87, 604 E. 3rd St. S., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, who was in the plumbing business for 23 years, died of a stroke this morning, Dec 28, at the Skiff Medical Center

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Reese Chapel.

The Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call after noon Friday at the funeral home.

The family will visit friends at the home of a daughter, Susan Robison, 515 S. 5th Ave. W.

Memorials to the Jasper County Historical Society, Hospice of Jasper County, or the Newton Christmas Lighting Fund will be accepted.

Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Prescilla) and Roy Robison of Newton; a grandson; a step-granddaughter and three sisters, Enid Nelson of Des Moines, Doris Stacy of Hampton and Mary Firman of Marengo.

Mr. Wilding was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Imogene in 1992, a brother, Dale, and two sisters, Iris Dwight and Jane Wilding.

In addition, to in addition to being in the plumbing business, Mr. Wilding had been a Maytag Co. employee for 19 years, retiring in 1962.

He was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax and a member and past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge 1270 in Newton.

The son of John Morgan and Nellie A. Hester Wilding, he was born Sept. 27, 1908 in Jasper County.

A graduate of Colfax Community High School, he was a resident of Colfax until 1928 when he moved to Newton.

He was married to Imogene P. Chollett March 26, 1932 in Bethany, Mo.
