Helen G. Foubert Goodman Herberger, 79, of 804 E. 9th St. S., a resident of Newton since 1942, died Thursday afternoon, May 2, at Skiff Medical Center of heart failure.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Dr. Douglas Oelke, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Sunday. Visitation with the family will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the First Baptist Church will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Frank Herberger; four sons, Terry Goodman of San Jose, Costa Rica, Richard Goodman of Newton, Garth Goodman of Saudi Arabia and Denny Goodman of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Mattie Gorman of Skidmore, Mo., and Leona Simpson of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Everett Goodman, a sister and a brother.

Mrs. Goodman, a member of the first Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign wars Auxiliary of Newton, had been an inspector at the Maytag Co., retiring in 1974.

The daughter of George and Bertha Cormann Foubert, she was born Aug. 29, 1911 in Bluejacket, Okla., and attended schools in Oklahoma and Millersburg.

She was married to Everett Goodman in 1930 and Fran Herberger May 7, 1982 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 3 May 1991.
