LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Sarah W. Jensma Johnson, 78, of Lakewood, Colo., formerly of Newton, died Thursday evening, April 25, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver, Colo.

Graveside rites will be held Monday at Newton Union Cemetery.

Persons attending are asked to meet by 1 p.m. Monday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton from which they will go as a group to the cemetery.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Newton, will conduct services.

Visitation with the family will be held from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name will be accepted.

Survivors are two daughters, Patricia (Mrs. Robert) Stewart of Morrisville, N. C., and Carolyn (Mrs. Gary) Stoaks of Golden, Colo.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Jensma of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth in 1974, and a brother.

Mrs. Johnson, a retired Vernon Co., office clerk, was a member of the United Methodist Church of Golden, Colo., and Golden, Colo., Easter Start Chapter and was a former member of the Newton White Shrine and Newton chapter 100 Order of Eastern Star.

The daughter of Sicco and Christina Van Dam Jensma, she was born Oct. 25, 1912 at Kellogg and was graduated from Newton Community high School.

She was married to Kenneth James Johnson Dec. 20, 1933 in Reynolds, Ill. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa Fri 26, Apr 1991.
