1946 - 2015

Jackie "Diann" Richmond, nee Faber, 68, Ruma, Ill., formerly of Albia, Iowa, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at University Hospital, St. Louis.

She was born May 23, 1946, in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Vaughn Faber and wife Patricia, nee Stevens. Diann graduated from Moravia High School with the Class of 1964. She was united in marriage to Ernest Richmond and to this union was born two children, Julie Diann Luleff and Jeffrey Dewayne. Ernest and Diann later divorced.

Diann worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing, Albia, Iowa, for many years before moving to the St. Louis area where she worked for S&H Transportation for 30 years before retiring in 2012.

Diann was passionate about her country music concerts, Cardinals baseball games and traveling throughout the United States, but she was just as content at home tending to her plants and feeding her hummingbirds and blue birds. Diann was an excellent cook and everyone looked forward to her delicious cookies, candies and breads at Christmas. She had a heart of gold and was well known for her infectious smile by many.

Diann is survived by her soul mate, Glen Besher; parents, Vaughn and Patricia Faber; two children, Julie and Jeffrey; one granddughter, the light of her life, Samantha (Chuck) Anderson; seven sisters, Cathy (Larry) McCarthy, Carolyn (Gene) Hunter, Cheryl (Jack Jr.) Martin, Cindy (Tom) Shepherd, Becky (John) Engle, Patricia Tarbell and Lisa (Ross) Boley; one brother, Dennis (Sandi) Faber; 25 nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and -nephews; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Fred and Bernice Stevens; paternal grandparents, Richard and Inez Faber; one brother, Vaughn Douglas; one nephew, Jack Mayfield Martin III; and one brother-in-law, Roy Tarbell.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 6, at Tharp Funeral Home, Albia, Iowa, at 3 p.m.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the time of the service, with Diann's family present at 1 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.

Diann was cremated per her wishes and a private family burial will be held at a later time at Trussell Cemetery, near Blakesburg, Iowa.

A memorial has been established to Monroe County Museum or to Diann's family.
