John Eversdyk Dies Monday; Rites Wednesday

KELLOGG - John Eversdyk, 81, of Rt. 2, Kellogg, died Monday at the Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The Rev. Ben F. See, pastor of the Lakeside Church of Christ, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Westfield Cemetery, southwest of Grinnell.

Survivors are a son, Marion of Abilene, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Marie) Brown of Rt. 2, Kellogg, and Mrs. Gale (Alice) Johnson of Grinnell; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a number of sisters and brothers in The Netherlands.

Mr. Eversdyk, who had farmed southwest of Grinnell for a number of years, also had been employed by the Grinnell Sales Barn and at Russ Otchech's Tavern in Grinnell.

The son of Marinus E. and Janna Traas Eversdyk he was born Mar. 7, 1895 in Heinkenszano, The Netherlands. He came to the United States in 1920. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa 27 Apr 1976.

John was born in Holland. He married Loeta E. Wright Nov.26,1930 in Fargo, ND. To this union was born 3 children - Marion Oliver, Alice Jane Eversdyk, Meldrem Johnson and Marie Elberta Eversdyk Brown.
John and Loeta divorced.
When John died in Grinnell, Iowa, his nephew, Ben F. See, who was the minister of the Lakeside Church of Christ in Grinnell, Iowa, conducted the service.
