Services For Mrs. Sadie Jones Held Monday
Services for Mrs. Sam E. (Sadie Mae) Jones, 81, longtime resident of the Colfax Community, were held Monday, Dec. 27, 1971 at 1:30 p.m. at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax. The Rev. W. L. Rowse, pastor of the United Methodist Church, conducted the services. Burial was in the Colfax cemetery.

The bearers were Bob Bown, Tom Jones, Don Jordan, Mike Klootwyk, Jim Polley and Ronnie Wagner.

Taking care of the flowers were Mrs. Kenneth Faidley, Mrs. Gil Newman and Mrs. Margaret Wheatcraft.

Mrs. Jones died Friday morning, Dec 25, 1971 at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

The daughter of John and Rebecca Wilson McWhirter, she was born Oct 12, 1890 at Metz and attended Jasper County schools.

Mrs Jones was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Colfax, the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the Pythian Sisters for more than 50 years.

Survivors are a son, Edwin of Ankeny; a daughter, Mrs. John (Vivian) Evans of Colfax; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Otto Carroll of Newton; and two brothers, Robert McWhirter of Minnesota and John McWhirter of California.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1954 and a son, John, in 1936.
