Robert Alan Telfer, age 69 of Colfax, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame or Museum or the Knoxville Raceway Foundation Charitable. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.

The son of Walter J. and Myrna B. (Bradshaw) Telfer, Bob was born on September 20, 1942 in Prairie City, Iowa. He graduated from Prairie City High School and attended AIB in Des Moines. He grew up in Prairie City and moved to Colfax in 1970, when he married Mary Wadsworth Toye. Bob served in the United States Army. He worked at Kent Feeds in Altoona for 36 years, retiring in 2005.

On January 1, 1999, he was united in marriage to Terri Toye at Hope Assembly of God in Colfax. He was a member of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, and was also proud of being a 16 gallon blood donor.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Terri Lea of Colfax; a daughter, Angela Kaye Telfer of St. Louis; step sons, Thomas Michael Toye and Randall Alan Toye his brothers and sisters; Trula Telfer of Urbandale, Wilbur (Dodie) Telfer of Newton, Ronald Telfer of Newton, Wilma Briles of Mitchellville and Lois Stoner of Colorado Springs. Also surviving are his dog, Mollie and a grand dog, Zoe.

Preceding Bob in death were his parents, his first wife, Mary in 1996, sisters, Myrna Schmitt, Grace Shuey, Edith Moore, Elsie Fatka, and Marilyn Elrod. ~ The Coburn Funeral Home, Colfax, Iowa 12 June 2012.
