Hazel C. Doud Dies on Sunday; Rites Wednesday

KELLOGG – Mrs. Peter (Hazel C.) Doud Jr., 82, of Kellogg, a former resident of the Rock Creek and Newburg communities, died Sunday afternoon at the Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The Rev. Charles H. Fry, pastor of the Bethany Grove Christian Church at Liscomb, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Survivors are a son, Virgil L. of Grinnell; four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Wilma) Foster and Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Olson, both of Grinnell and Mrs. Arlene Deppe and Mrs. Doris Flannagan, both of Kellogg; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred Howard; and a sister, Grace Jones.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1958 and a brother, Charles Howard.

Mrs. Doud was a member of the Victor Grace and a former member of the Farmers Union.

The daughter of Bert and Jennie Lemke Howard, she was born Dec. 11, 1894 in Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools.

She was married June 13, 1912 at Grinnell. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 7 Feb 1977.
