Claudia, the daughter of James and Maggie (Kidd) Winton, was born February 11, 1922 in Manchester, Tennessee. She graduated from Central High School in Manchester.

After moving to Newton, Claudia was united in marriage with Elmer Stevens on August 27, 1945 in Rock Island, Illinois.

Claudia worked in assembly for The Maytag Company for 34 years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, fishing, and crocheting.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Dennis Stevens of Jacksonville, Florida and Ed (Kathy) Stevens of Killduff; 4 grandchildren: Brandi (Robert) Foster of Green Cove Springs, FL, Lisa (George) Gonzalez, of Jacksonville, FL, Sara (Scott) Wilmesmeier of Killduff, and Jordan Stevens of Sully; and 6 great-grandchildren: Jill and Jenna Foster, Cole and Kaylynn Eubanks, and Blake and Tyson Wilmesmeier.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; a sister, Zela Martin; and 3 brothers: Fred Winton, James Winton, and Dick Winton.
