Icle Blanche Hawkins

MONROE – Icle Blanche Hawkins, 97, of Monroe, died Monday, Jan. 10, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Monroe United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Merrill, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe where family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials to Monroe United Methodist Church will be accepted.

The daughter of David and Emma Blood Miller, she was born July 14, 1902, in Runnells. She married Earl Hawkins Sr. Feb. 3, 1926, in Ivy.

A longtime resident of Monroe, Mrs. Hawkins worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Forever Young and Chat-A-Bit Club.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Earl Jr. and Wilma of Bella Vista, Ark. and David B. and Sara of Clive; a daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Harold Churchill of Grinnell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Miller of Atlantic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. ~ The Colfax tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 11 Jan 2000.
