Gregory Alan Williams, 50, of Oskaloosa died Saturday, May 23, 2015, doing what he loved, boating at Lake Rathbun. He was born Nov. 18, 1964, in Des Moines, the son of Richard and Barbara Langford Williams. He was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ at his personal savior at a young age. He graduated from Mormon Trail High School with the class of 1983. Following graduation he served in the United States Army. Upon his discharge from the military he continued his education at Southwestern Community College.
In 1984 he was united in marriage to Tina Anderson. To this union two sons were born, Joe and Nick. Greg and Tina later divorced. On May 30, 2001, Greg was united in marriage to Brenda Holub at Corydon. To this union two children were born, Cierra and Zach.
Greg had a lifelong love of vehicles. Early on he worked at Goodyear in Des Moines. He later went to work as a technician at Gabus Ford in Des Moines. In 1988, he took a job as a technician at Noble Ford. In 1998, he was promoted to service manager at Noble. In 2003, he was promoted to his current position as the general manger of the Noble dealership in Newton. He enjoyed working, especially remodeling rooms in the house, and woodworking. He loved being on the water with his family and riding his Harley. He had recently completed his new “man cave/shop” and he treasured the time he spent with his children in the shop working on projects.
His family includes his wife Brenda Williams of Oskaloosa; four children, Joe Williams of San Diego, Calif., Nick (Nicole) Williams of Newton, Cierra Williams of Oskaloosa and Zach Williams of Oskaloosa; a granddaughter, Natalie Williams, and a grandchild on the way; his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Kevin Ewing of Knoxville; his father and stepmother, Richard and Karen Williams of Chariton; three brothers, Jeff Williams of Des Moines, Bryan (Laura) Williams of Chariton and Brad (Candy) Williams of Chariton; his father and mother in law, Buddy and Eileen Holub of Oskaloosa; sisters-in-law, Suzy (Scott) DeJong of Oskaloosa and Janet Waits of Newton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 28, at 3 p.m. in the Central United Methodist Church in Oskaloosa with the Rev. Bruce Wittern officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin at the Central United Methodist Church on Thursday after 11 a.m. the family will be at the church on Thursday from noon until service time to greet friends and relatives.
