James Carl Luckey, 75, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away at his home on Thursday, May 21, 2015. A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Mr. Luckey passed away following a brief illness.

He was born on November 12, 1939 in Riverside, Iowa, the son of the late Carl A. Luckey and Martha Annas.

Mr. Luckey attended schools in Riverside, Iowa and obtained his GED in 1969

He worked for the Iowa State Highway Department, Maytag Company in Newton, Iowa and retired from Stauffer/OCI Chemical Company in Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1993. He and his first wife Edith moved to Theodosia, Missouri for two years and then moved to Kellogg, Iowa where they lived until Edith’s passing.

Jim and his daughter Linda returned to Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1994. Jim married Carolyn Moree December 15, 2007 and they had seven and a half happy years together.

Jim was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Riverside, Iowa; Oregon California Trails Assocation; Sweetwater County Historical Society; Lincoln Highway Association; Search and Rescue and NRA. He was an expert woodworker and made many decorations for home and for others. He was an avid hunter and fisherman until ill health forced him to give it up.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn Luckey of Rock Springs, Wyoming and one daughter Linda Luckey of Rock Springs, Wyoming; special friend Gail Burkis of Casper, Wyoming; one step-daughter Jean Gorthy (Willis) of Aiken, South Carolina; four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews, friends and a very special little girl, Andrea Zacarias.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Edith Luckey; one daughter Connie Jo; brothers and sisters Dale, Lyle, Eileen, Clover, Rose Marie, Fred, Virginia, Nancy, Patty, Marilla and Bill.

Jim was married to Edith Henning, October 28, 1961. She preceded him in death on August 1, 2003. From this marriage two children were born, Connie Jo and Linda. Connie Jo passed away July 25, 2008.

Following cremation, memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3309 Sweetwater Drive, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services.
