S. T. Grablun, Early Colfax Resident Died

Funeral Services Conducted Saturday Morning at Immaculate Conception Church

S. T. Grablun, 83, a resident of Colfax for 42 years, passed away at 7:10 Tuesday evening, August 26th, 1936, following a brief illness. His health had been failing for several years but the last illness was just of twenty-four hours duration.

Stanislaus Grablun was born in Lithuania, October 15, 1852, and passed away August 26, 1936. He was united in marriage to Mary Savakins April 15, 1875, and to this union six sons and five daughters were born.

His wife and five sons and one daughter preceded him in death.

He leaves to mourn his loss one son, Anthony Grablun of Des Moines, and four daughters, Mrs. Walter Ryan of Colfax, Mrs. Andrew Buntz, Mrs. John Ross and Mrs. Frank Laughlin of Des Moines. Nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at the Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Francis Kelly officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Flaherty, Ruth Cappellar, Amelia Vardo, Jennie Bartoletti and Catherine Tomlonovic. Interment was at Newton Catholic Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Wm. Kelly, John Doyle, Edward O’Neill, Joseph Weresh, Frank O’Mara and Jas. O’Mara. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa Thurs 3 Sept 1936.
