Arthur Ray Rose, son of Nancy and Newton Rose was born July 23, 1936, (typed as written should be 1886?) and died at Newton, Saturday, Sept. 26, after a few days illness at the Skiff Hospital.

He went to Nebraska when six weeks old with his parents and lived five years. They returned to Iowa, and the rest of his life was spent in Jasper County, near Baxter and Newton.

On March 1, 1916 he was united in marriage to Florence Long of Newton.

Survivors are his wife, his mother, Mrs. Mary Rose, two sisters, four brothers, and five step children. The family lived on the Chas. Coughlan homestead and he worked for Joe Coughlan in this township a few years ago. He worked on No. 88, and is well known to our people. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfax, Iowa 8 Oct 1936.
