Robert Cross

Robert R. Cross, 81, of Newton died of a heart ailment Saturday, November 13 at Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton. Services were held Tuesday, November 16 at Evangelical Free Church in Baxter, with burial at Restland Cemetery in Baxter.

Mr. Cross was born in Ira and lived in the Newton area most of his life. He had been head custodian of Baxter community Schools and retired as building and grounds supervisor of Marshalltown YMCA/YWCA. He was a member of Baxter Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce; four sons, Eldon of Des Moines, Robert Jr. of Baxter, Alan of Newton and Bennie of Pella; two daughters, Norma Brandt of Colfax and Marsha Bucklin of Marshalltown; three brothers, Leo of Knoxville, Marvin of Marshalltown; and Norman of Olathe, Kansas; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
