Larry E. Dobbs, 58, of Newton died Monday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of an injury sustained in an accident Friday.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. today at Newton Baptist Temple, of which he was a member. Additional services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Newton Baptist Temple. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Mr. Dobbs was born in Kirksville, Mo., and had lived in Newton since 1964. He was a dishwasher with Park Center Retirement Community and a bell ringer with the Salvation Army during the Christmas season.

He is survived by his wife, Patty; and four brothers, Raymond of Newton, Dean and Albert, both of North Carolina, and Jerry of Joelton, Tenn.

Friends may call after noon today at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton, where the family will be present from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church, the Salvation Army or Progress Industries. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa 11 Jan 2000.
