Iris Geurts

Iris Geurts, 76, of 505 1St st. S. in Lynnville died from complications of cancer Thursday, Fb. 28, at Iowa Methodist Mical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Lynnville Friends Church in Lynnville with the Rev. Marvin Martin officiating. Cemetery in Lynnville. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call after noon sunday at the funeral home where family will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials will be accepted in Mrs. geurts' name at the funeral home and at the Lynnville Friends Church on the dayof the service.

The daughter of J.R. and Ethel M. Arthur Stanley,she was botn Feb 2, 1926 in Albert Lea, Minn. she graduatd from Searsboro High School in Searsboro in 1944. She married Melvin D. Geurts on June 22, 1944 in Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Geurts worked for Grinnell Office Suppply and Ritter Hardware in Grinnell prior to retiring. She was a resident of Lynnville since 1944.

Srvivors include her husband; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Danny Bishop of Iowa City, Debra and Danny Cupples of Newton, and Vicki and Ronnie Fairchild of Baxter; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Dee Stanley of Albert Lea, Minn., and Gordon and Shirley Stanley of Apple Valley, Minn.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley and Melvin Hovland of Hollendale, Minn., and Karen Ver Steegt of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson and three brothers. ~ The Colfax Tribune, Colfas, Iowa Sat 2 Mar 200.
